1. The basics
These terms apply when you use this website, the member app, our courses, or hire us for consulting or website design. By joining, buying or booking, you're agreeing to them. The service is operated by Megan Nakazawa trading as The Local Biz Club.
2. Your account
You need to give accurate information, keep your login to yourself, and be at least the age of majority where you live. Your membership is for one business and one person — don't share your login. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
3. Membership and billing
- Member is $29 CAD per month. Member Pro is $79 CAD per month. Prices are in Canadian dollars and exclude any tax we're required to add.
- Membership is a recurring subscription. It renews automatically each month on the anniversary of your signup until you cancel.
- You authorise us to charge your payment method on each renewal. If a payment fails we'll retry and email you; if it keeps failing we may suspend access.
- Upgrading to Pro takes effect immediately and is prorated. Downgrading takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
- We can change prices. Existing members get at least 30 days' notice by email before a change hits their renewal, and you're free to cancel before it does.
- Usage limits on the Member tier (10 AI content plans and 25 hook batches a month) reset monthly and don't roll over.
4. Free trials
Both tiers start with 7 days free. We ask for a card up front so your access doesn't break when the trial ends. Cancel any time before day seven and you won't be charged. If you don't cancel, your first month bills automatically at the tier you chose. One trial per person.
5. Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel any time from your account settings — two clicks, no call to book, no exit interview. You keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for, and you won't be billed again.
We don't offer refunds on membership fees, including partial months and unused time. That's exactly why the free trial exists: use it. Courses purchased separately are also non-refundable once you've accessed the material, because we can't un-give it to you. If something is genuinely broken on our end, email us — we'll sort it out properly rather than hiding behind this paragraph.
6. Courses and resources
Member gets 20% off any course. Member Pro includes every course at no extra charge for as long as the Pro membership is active — if you downgrade or cancel, access to courses included with Pro ends with it. Courses you bought outright stay yours.
Everything in the membership — worksheets, SOPs, templates, directories — is licensed to you for use in your own business. You may not resell it, republish it, share it outside your business, or use it to build a competing product.
7. Consulting and website design
- All 1:1 work is scoped and quoted per project. The quote and any statement of work we agree sits alongside these terms and takes precedence where they conflict.
- Sessions and VIP days require a deposit to hold the date. Rescheduling with more than 5 business days' notice is free; inside that, the deposit is forfeited because the time was held for you.
- Website projects need timely content and feedback from you. If a project goes quiet on your end for more than 30 days we may pause it and re-quote to restart.
- Ownership of the finished website transfers to you on final payment. Third-party assets (fonts, stock imagery, platform subscriptions) are licensed under their own terms and are your ongoing responsibility.
- We may show finished work in our portfolio unless you ask us in writing not to.
8. AI-generated content
Several tools in the membership use AI to generate content plans, hooks, captions and audit findings. This matters:
- Output is a starting point, not a finished product. Read it before you publish it.
- AI gets things wrong. Verify anything factual, legal, financial or tax-related before you act on it — especially numbers.
- You're responsible for what you publish, and for making sure it complies with the rules of the platform you publish it on.
- You own the output you generate for your business, as far as we're able to grant that. We can't promise output is unique — similar prompts can produce similar results for other people.
9. Acceptable use
Don't scrape or reverse-engineer the app, resell access, hammer the AI tools with automated requests, upload anything unlawful, or harass other members. The community is the best part of this and we'll remove people who make it worse. Serious or repeated breaches mean termination without refund.
10. Intellectual property
The Local Biz Club name, brand, site, app, course material and resources belong to us. Your business information and the content you create belong to you. You grant us only the limited permission needed to run the service for you — and permission to quote your feedback if you give it to us as a testimonial.
11. No guarantees
We'll give you good tools, honest advice and everything we've learned. We can't promise results. Your revenue depends on your market, your product, your pricing, your effort and plenty of things none of us control. Nothing here is legal, accounting or tax advice — for those, talk to a professional in your jurisdiction. The service is provided "as is" and we don't warrant it'll be uninterrupted or error-free.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, lost profits, or lost data. Where liability can't be excluded, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability for fraud, or for anything that can't legally be limited.
13. Changes and termination
We may update these terms. Material changes get at least 30 days' notice by email to members. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept them. You can close your account any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, or if we discontinue the service — in which case we'll give reasonable notice and prorate anything you've prepaid.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada, and the courts there have jurisdiction — without taking away any consumer rights you have where you live.
